Robinson Wins 2nd Straight Tennis Tourney At Pinewoods
Harwinton’s Holden Robinson won his 2nd straight Tennis Tournament in the USTA CT. Championships held at Pinewoods December 3rd and 4th. The fourteen year old Lewis Mills High School Freshman won two 3 Setters to take the championship. In the semifinals he beat Fairfield’s Cole Rummelsburg 2-6,6-0, Retired and in the finals he bested Avon’s Jordan Abate 3-6,6-3,6-1. Robinson trains at Pinewoods. Madeux,Cofer Big Winners At Pinewoods Tennis Tournament
Local Tennis Teaching Professionals Doug Madeux and Bob Cofer won their respective divisions in the USTA Adult Championships Tennis Tournament held at Pinewoods November 19th. Madeux, who teaches tennis at Pinewoods, won the Men’s Open Singles Division with victories over Longmeadow, MA’s Stefan Sjoberg 6-0,6-0 and Windsor’s Jason Hone 7-5,6-0 in the Round Robin Competition. The Harwinton Native is ranked in the Top 60 in New England in Men’s Open Singles. Cofer, the Pinewoods Club Owner, won the 4.5 Men’s Singles Division as he squeezed by Boca Raton, Florida’s George Kramer 6-4,7-6(7-3) and the took out Southport’s Michael Cahill 6-2,6-1 in another Round Robin.
