Pecci Reaches Final In Pinewoods Tourney

Watertown’s Angelica Pecci had a great showing in the CT. USTA Championships Tennis Tournament held at Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club on 1/14 – 1/16. The 16 year old, who trains at Pinewoods with Director of Junior Player Development Mitch Case, reached the finals of the Girl’s 16 and Under Division. Pecci defeated Litchfield’s Sabrina Cofer 6-3,6-1 in the first round and Torrington’s Jessica Ruot in the semifinals 6-1,6-0 before falling to Stamford’s Anna Rogers 6-0,6-1 in the finals. In other action in one of the largest Tourneys ever at Pinewoods with 40 participants, Darien’s Devon Wolfe won the Boy’s 16 and Under Division with a 7-5,7-6(7-3) win in the finals over Damanscotta, Maine’s Jordan Friedland. Darien’s Benjamin Collier defeated Trumbull’s Nicholas Marchenko 7-5,6-2 in the finals to win the Boy’s 12 and Under Division and Woodbridge’s Victoria Li was victorous in the Girl’s 12 and Under Division besting Darien’s Devon Wolfe in the finals 6-1,6-3.
