Local Tennis Teaching Professionals Doug Madeux and Bob Cofer won their respective divisions in the Thanksgiving Classic Tennis Tournament held at Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club November 24th and 25th. Madeux, from Harwinton, won the Men’s Open Singles Division with 3 victories on the way to the Championship. In the Quarterfinals he beat Wallingford’s Adam Sinkala 6-4,6-1 and then went on to defeat West Hartford’s Dan Couzens in a nailbiter 2-6,6-3,7-6 in the semifinals and John Holschlag from Bristol in the finals 6-4,6-4. Cofer, Pinewoods Club Owner, won the 4.5 Men’s Singles Division with wins over Norwalk’s Raphael Hurwitz 6-0,6-2 in the semifinals and William Schneider from Hopkinton, New Hampshire in the finals 6-2,6-0.
